During a routine cleaning, tartar and plaque are removed from your teeth above and below the gum line. Your hygienist will also polish your teeth and take x-rays to help with the diagnosis of potential problems. With regular cleanings and exams, issues with the teeth can be detected early and fixed quickly to prevent further damage. Root Canals A root canal is the treatment of the tissue in a tooth, with the end result being the removal of the infection in the tooth. Root canals are performed on teeth where the nerve has died or become infected. A root canal is the first step in trying to prevent the loss of teeth resulting in the need for bridgework or crowns. With over 41 years of experience, Dr. Mayercheck has developed his skills in performing this procedure resulting in a quick and almost completely painless process. Crowns and Bridges Crowns are used to protect broken or damaged teeth. They are placed over the existing tooth structure and cemented on.
